Fall 2001

By this time I've talked to everybody and have asked them to submit their moves, but the only ones to submit are myself and Mr. Dupuy.  I was assured by everyone at the beginning of the game (excluding Gunnar) that they would submit moves to the end of the game, but that has clearly not been the case.

Spring 2001 (A Space Odyssey)

I'd like to thank everybody who's still submitting moves (Mr. Dupuy, Robbie Wheeler, Robbie Cumby). It's annoying to have people who promised to submit moves throughout the game (Joseph, Hambone... not to name names) submit them on and off and infrequently. Next year, people who submitted moves consistently and on time will be at the top of the list for games. If anyone hasn't noticed, the game is getting quite exciting. It is really unclear as to who is going to win at this point. With that, Good Night and Good Luck.
Sincerely,
William Gaston "Chorba" Chorba II

I'm not "Winning"

"I'm losing" - Myself

If I die, Thailand and Vietnam win.

In order to prove my point im almost willing to stop trying, but then it'd be no fun.

Think about it. Who would pick up my territories? Not australia or malaysia, thats for sure. Indonesia is dead. That leaves... two. Good game, all of you. Come get me. I'll be waiting.

From the Horse's Mouth

Kiss frontman Paul Stanley has stated today that he looks forward to today's moves. "Indonesia's gonna kick some Rock and Roll ass," Paul said. "I'm getting tired of these little kids from St. Albans saying that KISS Sucks. It's about damn time that these little CENSORED be taught a CENSORED lesson. Especially this little bitch, Joe Cat."

In addition, in this once in a lifetime interview, Stanley stated his alliances to Indonesia. He also donated twelve million dollars to the "Save Ballikpapan Now" foundation.

"Joe Cat is going to be taught a lesson," Stanley said. "He gets his way just like a child. This is unacceptable."

Moves Tomorrow

We should do moves tomorrow by email by 3:00 pm. Please email your moves.

Malaysian Army Enlist help of Dr. Tran

Dr. Tran, renowned warlord and famous American Cassanova has agreed to jointhe Malaysian army in its quest to wipe out the hordes of dirty Indonesians who have heinously attacked Malaysia's fair borders. "WHY ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?!?!?" exclaimed Tran loudly when asked about his coming military conquests. such enthusiasm surely mean death for the Indonesian army.

Indonesian dictator "Asshole" Hamrick seemed deeply troubled by news of Tran's coming asskicking. He was heard to have said "Oh shit" before starting to cower under his desk and wimper softly. Fillippino prime minister Skrewed McNinjapants simply started crying when he learned of Tran's sheer awesomeness.

Tran intends to film himself brutally slaughtering Indonesian and Fillippino forces as part of his latest movie, Oh No, You Just Got Killed by Dr. Tran 7. He sees this as a good opppurtunity for publicity, and a way to show those Indonesian Assholes who's boss. Before ending the interview, Tran issued one guarantee: "I HAVE TO DO CHORES NOW, GO AWAY!!!!!!"

For more about dr. Tran please visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO0kRE5OTZI

Australia reveals motives for attempted world conquest, is promptly shot

So, it turns out that the only reason Australia desired world domination was to contextually utilize the age-old meme, "All your base are belong to us".

Summer Moves

This is just an idea for moves during the Summer. Whereas with moves turned in by hand one can show the moves to an ally to assure trust, there isn't really and easy way to do this through email. I say a system can be set up for this problem. So lets say there's two allies, ally 1 and ally 2. I propose in leu of showing each other their moves, they merely send them to each other. So ally 1 sends ally 2 his moves, ally 2 then forwards these to the STA Asia Diplomacy inbox. Meanwhile, Ally 2 sends ally 1 his moves, and ally 1 forwards them to the STA Asia Diplomacy inbox. This would essentially mean you could only share orders with one other person, but I think it could work. Any thoughts?

Next Moves

I don't think we should do moves this weekend, seeing as there are exams this next week. That means we should do them either monday or tuesday. I honestly don't care which day we do them. If anyone has a preference just write in the comments section.

Tempests and tea-pots

The Vietnamese government recently returned home from a night on the town to discover the whole Greater East-Asia Co-prosperity Sphere caught up in tizzy. What is all this talk of alliances and betrayal? You make it sound like there's a war on. True, there have been some unfortunate incursions on the sovereign territory of Indonesia and Australia, and two of the Sultanate of Brunei's neighbors have been unable to agree on who should occupy it (for its own protection, they assure me). True, there appears to be something of a military build-up all over the region. But don't make mountains of molehills! Our differences are nothing compared to our similarities, after all.

The government of Vietnam disclaims any desire for war and bloodshed. We stand ready to work with any of our neighbors towards the peace of the region. We invite any and all leaders to a summit in our beautiful city of Saigon for a nice bowl of pho.

Fine, be that way.

The proposed giving of supply points to thailand and vietnam is hereby canceled.

Chorba also told me to take Brunei. I was being the good Benjamin O'toole that I am.
Nothing personal, Cumby. You were obviously a threat to the mainland alliance and had to be dealt with.

Philippines, Who Are You Talking To?

May we ask, Philippines, who you are talking to in your last address? Let's run down the list of possibilities:
China: You cannot be talking to them, because you have openly attacked them.
Thailand: Clearly not, as you claim the Royal nation "[Preaches] hate"
Vietnam: Is allied with Thailand, and according to you, also "[Preaches] hate"
Malaysia: They surely will never forget the injustice at Brunei
Indonesia: You have admitted on several occasions that you have only supported Balikpapan to stop Malaysia from taking it. You stated that your true goals were to one day take over the island.
Australia: Clearly you are not addressing them, as you have just attacked them.
So who is it you are trying to get to fight this so called "evil" mainland alliance. May I remind you that the mainland alliance is the only group of nations that has not betrayed anyone? We never promised anything to China, however you did Philippines. You promised protection, yet as soon as the moment came, you stabbed. Whereas the nations of the mainland alliance are generous enough to share a victory, you are greedy and wish to horde it to yourself. Allow me to offer a metaphor: There is a banana in a jar. A monkey smells the banana in said jar and reaches in for it. Once the monkey has hold of the banana it tries to take its hand out, but the opening of the jar is to small. The monkey does not want to leave empty handed, so it holds on to the banana for days, thus dragging the jar around. The monkey's arm begins to chafe and becomes sore, but the monkey does not let go. Blood starts to run from days of chafing from the jar, yet the monkey still does not let go. Infection spreads to the wound and the monkey sadly dies, all due to the fact that it refused to let the banana go. This monkey is you, Philippines. Consider yourself warned that no good comes out of greed. Perhaps it might be best for you to find an ally, however that might be difficult at this stage.

The Philippines and You

Excerpt from Robert Al Pacquiao, Abu Sayyaf spokesman at the Abu Sayyaf Press Conference after their unexpected move into the Coral Sea:

"In order to clarify this for the world, the Thai Government told us a year ago to attack Australia. Vietnamese officials can back this statement up as well. The world was affraid of the australians. The Philippines decided to sack up. The one nation that decided to do something about this problem. We know everyone is secretly happy that we decided to attack australia. The Philippines is truly sorry that we picked up so many builds. We will happily dsitribute them to every other nation as we deem fit, starting with Thailand and Vietnam.

So world, take a long hard look at the situation here. You have the mainland alliance preeching hate towards every nation that threatens them. You end up with a dead australia and a philippines as the newest member of their hitlist. The Philippines is a nation with no friends. We are self sufficient, helping neighbors when they deem it fit. We dont rely on others. We are anonymous. We dont forgive."

Allahu Akbar

Save the Kangaroos!

The Royal Kingdom of Thailand would like to wish Australia luck in its endeavors. The Philippines is the scum of the Earth, a nation that knows no honor. Thailand promises its full support in any endeavors it can help Australia with, and pleads with other nations to destroy the treacherous and deceitful Philippines. Help Australia for the sake of Kangaroos, Fosters, and Outback Steakhouse!

"Australia screwed," analysts say

In an official press conference earlier today, President-for-Life of Australia, Joseph "Jocat" Catalanotto, commented on the disastrous state of affairs in southern southeast Asia. Upon the conclusion of his address, President-for-Life finished with "I'd just like to extend a sincere, heart-felt 'fuck you' to the Philippines. Also, Indonesia is a total tool."

Analysts agreed with the President-for-Life. According to one, who wishes to remain anonymous, "the consensus is that Australia is screwed. Really, really screwed."

China, A Fabulous Rainbow

A new campaign by the Chinese government has sought to promote diversity in the mainland. "We have sought to allow many other countries into our territory," one official stated, "to get a real rainbow of colors into our country." One can see that this campaign has succeeded by merely looking at the map.

Meanwhile, the Chinese regime seems to be failing as civilians question its inability to use its military. "Uh-oh" Chairman Mao stated as Thai, Vietnamese, and Philippine Soldiers walked past his window.

Muslim Insurgents Ruthelessly Take Over Philippines!

In less than an hour, coordinated Abu Sayyaf uprisings from Davao to Manila and everywhere inbetween had the military government of the Philippines on its last legs. Insurgents stormed General Bak'la's compound and took him hostage. After fighting over the compound for several hours, the insurgents decided that it was not worth the trouple and surrendered. Upon opening the gates and allowing in the General's forces, the insurgents blew up the compound with fifty tonns of C4 they rigged up in the underground tunnels. The ten insurgents took with them around 75 men and the General, although casualty estimates are not exact.

The rest of the country fell shortly after that.

Abu Sayyaf's military objectives are not sure, although certain Thai officials claim to have heard a military advance on China and Australia is emminent...

Chinese navy apparently unable to read; moves into Vietnam Sea

JunkStarboard5.jpg

Vietnamese cartographers pointed out that China already has a sea of its own to paddle around in. Chinese apologists whined that there was a Philippine fleet in the South China Sea too, "so why are you picking on me?"

"Indonesia sucks," says native

In a recent interview with Budi Chang, a native of Jakarta, Indonesia, it has come to light that "Indonesia really sucks. Like, a lot."

Mr. Chang, pictured above, cites Dictator Chris "Hambone" Hamricks's "utter asshole-ness" and "being a total dick" as main reasons for finding Indonesia such a displeasing country.

Mr. Chang, who is a poppy farmer and ruthless drug lord, also adds that ever since Dictator Hambone (or "Asshole", as he is demeaningly referred to) came to power, more and more people have been fleeing to the beautiful country of Australia. As a result, Mr. Chang says, "not as many people want opium. This makes me angry." It looks like the Dictator had better watch out.

"Oh yes," says Mr. Chang. "He better." His face is devoid of emotion, but the handgun he's holding in one hand and the huge machete he's holding in the other makes us think that he's being serious.

And so it was...

And so it was that the Army at Surabaya was forced execution by its newly elected president, Abdurrahman Wahid. Wahid's reasoning behind the execution was that the army simply was privately funded and not consistent with the modern technology needed to truly defend, or conquer, any new territories. "What I find even more disturbing is their lack of clothing and weapons," Wahid said. "I honestly cannot tell what is on their lower torso, but it certainly does not seem family-friendly. It is counterintuitive to the message of ferocity and strength that we are trying to send to neighboring countries. These men no longer deserve to live--it is time for them to be put down."

And just like that, the fierce (or something) army at Surabaya is no longer.

Philippines and Australia Ally; He he, Good Luck With That

In a shocking turn of events, the Philippines has allied with Australia! Many question why the have allied for they are natural enemies. Beyond this some quick logic:
Australia is allied with Malaysia
Malaysia is fighting the Philippines
The Philippines is allied with Australia
Does that make sense to any one?
With the announcement of the alliance, this photo was captured in Manila:

Royal Thai Army Enlists John Rambo to Route out Guerrilla Forces in Burma; Operation Succeeds

In a brilliant strategic maneuver, General Chakrabandhu Chorba hired Vietnam War veteran John Rambo to exterminate Burmese guerrilla forces. When pressed for a quote, Chorba stated, "Well, we saw his movies and thought 'that looks like a man who can slaughter indiscriminately.'" And that Rambo did, killing approximately 2,000 guerrilla fighters in a little under a week. When asked by reporters how it was so easy to rack up such a large body count Rambo stated "When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing." One camera man followed Rambo into the battle field and captured this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2RG-vMLGCk

The presence of John Rambo alone should be enough to frighten off neighbor nations from invasion of Burma.

One Last Thing

This is just a suggestion to new players: SUBMIT YOUR MOVES.
Do not do what Koby did last game. If you get a reputation for not submitting moves on time, not knowing how to write moves, or sloppily writing moves, people aren't going to invite you to new games. Playing with someone who doesn't submit their moves is not fun. No excuses. Get them to Mr. Dupuy's desk by 3:00pm every day. If the game is still going come summer, an email account has been set up to get the moves: staasiadiplomacy@gmail.com. If you know you are not going to be at school after lunch to submit moves/builds, either put them in before lunch, or send them by email. The rules this time are going to be much more strict. If you have not submitted your moves by 3:00pm, you do not get moves. If you do not submit twice in a row, we will find a replacement. If you do not know how to write moves, either google search Diplomacy Rules, or ask someone who has played before. Preferably google search it, because if you asked someone they will probably try to trick you or lie to you. That is all for now. Send me your email addresses so you can submit propaganda.

1997 Asian Financial Crisis and a Military Coup?

With the Philippines gripped by the Asian financial crisis, the military seized the opportunity to overthrow and execute President Fidel V. Ramos. General Bak'la assumed the role of the head of state and has promised to lead the country to "greatness."

The General was also quoted as saying, "at this point in time, we wish to not pursue any military intrusions on our neighbors. We wish to stake our claims and 'kantot eyong ina'."

Woo! Diplomacy!
